Favourite Games of the Year: JM
Next up in our series spotlighting our team's favourite games of the year is JM, our Head of Sales!
My 3 picks for favourite games of the year:
Shackleton Base
A heavy euro where you are competing to get the most VP for performing research activities within a crater on the moon, this with 7 modules so you can decide which of the different modules you prefer to play with.
This game is a brain burner and will take you a couple of hours to play through (longer for more players). You really need to keep an eye on what your competitors are doing as it will potentially limit your last few turns scoring, dependent on the modules in play.
With additional modules planned for 2026, I expect to be playing this many more times!
Gwent
Having played this on my Playstation for nearly a decade, I was very excited we were bringing it to the UK market, then to find out it had new game modes, like 5 Player and 2 vs 2 (which has quickly become my favourite way to play). This game has seen the table many times this year and it's been great to see other people's faces when they get to hold physical Gwent cards. The playmats and the sleeves really add to the experience!
Wispwood
With my young family, tile-laying games go down really well, when done right! This is definitely one of those. Simple mechanics, and a changing board size between rounds, the neon colours for the wisps and the cute cats sometimes hiding in a tree. This is our first time working with CGE and I am very excited to see people playing this game over the coming year!
