Favourite Games of the Year: Christoph
Next up in our series spotlighting our team's favourite games of the year is Christoph, the OLGS and logistics specialist on the sales team.
The older I get, the more my gaming habits change. I’ve started moving away from those heavy, epic-length games and towards shorter games that I can share with a variety of people. These three games reflect this shift and have absolutely dominated my table time this year:
Architects of Amytis
What an amazing two-player design! It takes the familiar tic-tac-toe core and builds a truly satisfying game around it. This one will always be special to me, as it was the first prototype I tested as part of the Hachette team. It’s got a permanent spot in my collection.
Looot
This game is a great mix of mechanics. You're building up your own fjord in a solitaire puzzle on your personal board, but then you combine that with player interaction on the main board. It’s fast to teach, quick to play, and I love that you get a little bit of space to be 'mean' and mess with someone else’s plans!
Petiquette
Hands down, this is the current favourite warm-up game for my group. The core idea is simple: filling in a missing card in a random sequence. But the resulting discussions, the why behind everyone’s choices, are hilarious and fascinating. It's the quickest way to find out who around the table thinks just like you!
