Next up in our series spotlighting our team's favourite games of the year is Adam, the FLGS specialist on our sales team.
My TOP 3 games from our range this year are:
- Cyclades
- Kingdom Crossing
- Wriggle Roulette
I enjoy most game genres, (just don't ask me to play a hidden traitor game!) and I think my list reflects this.
Cyclades: I love a good area control game with lots of maneuvering on the board, combat, bold and risky plays and the dice gods holding the fate of those plans in their cube holding hands! Cyclades is one the best examples of the genre and brings with it a tight auction mechanic, Greek heroes and monsters to swing the odds in your favour and much more. Do you play defensive and build your own metropolis' or strike out and conquer your opponents and take theirs for victory. Dudes on a map perfection.
Kingdom Crossing: From a game with lots of interaction to a Euro game. Kingdom Crossing is a great mid-weight Euro, where you are trying to be the builder favoured by the Queen to build the 8th Bridge to connect the kingdom. The game is a perfect blend of multiple choices leading to victory which will take many games to explore fully. Engine building along with the puzzle of how you use the bridges to get the cards you need, and all with beautiful components.
Wriggle Roulette: Then, after playing those two amazing games, you need to have a lighter game to end game night on, and Wriggle Roulette is perfect. A push-your-luck game where you are trying to score points by collecting the most eels but inside the bag there are also snakes. Once a certain number of snakes have been removed from the bag there is an attack, and one player will lose the points they collected that round. Quick to play and tons of laughs, a perfect game to start or end a gaming day.
Have you tried any of these?
